Exploring Support Together

Wondering what working together might look like?

Beginning care can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to wonder what to expect. This page gathers answers to the questions clients most often ask - like my approach to nutrition care and what happens in a first appointment.

My aim is to give you clear, reassuring information so you feel comfortable, informed, and supported as you explore if this is the kind of care you’re seeking.

Welcome

  • I offer individual, online dietitian appointments for people experiencing:

    • Eating disorders (all types)

    • Disordered eating

    • Complex relationships with food / body

    • Avoidant / Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

    • Food and nutrition concerns related to autism and ADHD

    • Nutrition concerns for kids aged 5+ with very limited food acceptance (i.e., ARFID or Paediatric Feeding Disorder)

      • Parent-support sessions only

    • Medical conditions (e.g., high cholesterol, low iron)

I may be the right fit for you if you are:

    • An adult who wants to improve your relationship with food or your body

    • An autistic and/or ADHD adult who is curious how your neurotype influences how you experience food

    • An adult experiencing an eating disorder (any type including ARFID)

    • The parent or carer of a child aged 5+ with a small range of foods accepted (i.e., ARFID or PFD)

    • Medically stable

    • Over 18 years old

I may not be the right fit for you if you are:

    • Seeking a meal plan to lose weight

    • Not medically stable

    • Under 18 years old

If you’re unsure whether this service is right for you, please reach out. Together, we can explore together what kind of support might feel most helpful.

  • Curious, warm, non-judgemental, and reflective.

  • I strive to offer care that is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, shaped by both clinical evidence and the voices of those with lived and living experience.

Depending on your presentation, past experiences, and what feels clinically indicated, I draw from a range of approaches.

    These include:

    • The Non‑Diet Approach

    • Intuitive Eating principles

    • Motivational Interviewing

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT‑E)

    • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills

    • Temperament Based Therapy with Supports (TBT‑S)

    • Responsive Feeding Therapy

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for ARFID (CBT‑AR)

    • Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Feeding Therapy

    • The Get Permission Approach to Feeding Therapy

  • Your first 1 to 2 sessions are a chance to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you here, explore your goals, and gently set the foundation for ongoing support.

Sessions are collaborative - you’ll be invited to share at your own pace, and we’ll work together to create a safe, affirming space.

  • To make the most of your session, here are a few suggestions:

    1. Set up your device

      • Use a computer, tablet, or phone with internet access and a camera.

      • Check that your microphone and speakers (or headphones) are working.

    2. Test your connection

      • Make sure you have a stable internet connection.

      • Sometimes it can be helpful to close other apps or tabs that might slow things down.

    3. Choose your space

      • If you can, find a quiet, confidential, comfortable spot where you can speak freely and feel secure.

      • Try to minimise interruptions — let others know you’ll be in session.

    4. Have what you need nearby

      • A drink, snack, or fidget tool, any notes or questions you’d like to bring, and relevant documents if needed.

    5. Log in a few minutes early

      • This gives you time to settle, check your tech, and start the session feeling calm.

  • I work proudly from a Size Inclusive lens, promoting balanced eating, life‑enhancing physical activity, and respect for the diversity of body shapes and sizes.

I do not prescribe restrictive diets, as these are not effective long‑term. Instead, I bring together my expertise in nutrition research with your expertise in yourself to define what health means to you.

Together, we will set realistic and sustainable goals that support your success.

  • Please note that I use the term neuro‑affirming as it is the language most commonly recognised and accessible to those seeking support. A more precise description of my work would be autism/ADHD‑affirming. I acknowledge that neurodivergent encompasses a much broader range of experiences, and while I strive to support all neurotypes, my predominant experience is with autistic and/or ADHD clients.

    Communication Styles

Telehealth makes it easy to connect in different ways — verbal, visual, and written. I often share my screen and type as we go, bringing up images of foods and other visual aids. These can be sent through after the appointment, so you have a summary of what we discussed.

    Sensory Considerations

Eating is one of the few experiences that engages all eight sensory systems. I actively inquire about sensory processing and consider these when we make plans together. Telehealth also allows you to curate your environment — dimming lights, playing background music, or using fidget tools. These strategies are encouraged, and I’m always glad to see clients engaging with them.

    Respecting Differences and Disability

I explicitly invite my clients to move away from neuro‑normativity when it feels safe to do so. I acknowledge that neurodivergent people experience challenges and barriers that their neurotypical peers do not, and I strive for a world where all people are treated with respect and have safe access to any necessary accommodations, no matter their neurotype.

    Individualised Approaches

Just like my clients, my approaches are a blend of colours from different palettes. There is no one‑size‑fits‑all model — it’s about finding what works best for you.

    Learning From Lived Experience

You are the expert of you. By listening to and learning from the lived experience of neurodivergent people, both informally and through formal training, I aim to create more empathic and inclusive environments.

  • Right now, I am focusing on individual nutrition counselling - tailored to each client’s needs, experiences, and goals.

Meal support sessions will soon be available to provide gentle, practical guidance during eating. These sessions are designed to help you feel supported in real time, whether through individual appointments or group settings. The focus will be on creating a safe, affirming environment where you can practice balanced eating with encouragement and care.

If you’re interested in meal support, please get in touch.
