Telehealth Policy.

Effective Date: 12 September 2025
Applies to: All clients and clinicians engaging in virtual consultations through More Than Nutrients.

1. Privacy & Confidentiality

1A. Confidential Environment:

Both the clinician and client must ensure they are in a private, quiet space during sessions. If another person is present in the room (e.g., support person, colleague, family member), this must be disclosed at the beginning of the session.

1B. No Unauthorized Recordings:

Audio, video, or screen recordings of any kind are strictly prohibited unless both parties provide specific prior written consent. This includes partial recordings, screenshots, or transcription tools.

1C. Secure Platforms:

All telehealth sessions will be conducted via secure, encrypted platforms that comply with Australian privacy legislation and health data standards.

2. Informed Consent & Scope of Practice

2A. Telehealth Consent:

Clients must provide informed consent to receive dietetic services via telehealth. This includes understanding the limitations of virtual care and agreeing to the terms outlined in this policy.

2B. Clinical Boundaries:

Telehealth is not suitable for all clinical presentations. If a client’s needs exceed the scope of virtual support, appropriate referrals or in-person care will be recommended.

3. Communication & Safety

3A. Session Etiquette:

Both parties agree to maintain respectful, professional communication. Disruptions should be minimised to preserve therapeutic focus.

3B. Emergency Protocols:

Telehealth is not appropriate for crisis intervention. Clients experiencing acute distress or requiring urgent support will be directed to appropriate emergency services.

3C. Technology Failures:

In the event of technical issues, the clinician will attempt to reconnect. If reconnection is not possible, the session may be rescheduled or continued via phone, depending on clinical appropriateness.

4. Documentation & Data Handling

4A. Clinical Notes:

All sessions will be documented in accordance with professional standards. These records are stored securely and are accessible only to authorized personnel.

4B. Data Protection:

More Than Nutrients complies with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and relevant health records legislation. Personal information will not be shared without consent, except where legally required.

5. Client and Clinician Responsibilities

5A. Clients and clinicians engaging in telehealth with More Than Nutrients agree to:

·       Maintain a confidential and distraction-free environment

·       To disclose at the beginning of the session if anyone else is present
